Vibe the magazine Research
The Vibe magazine first started in 1993 and was founded by Quincy Jones. It had originally been called Volume by co-founder, Scott poulson-Bryant. The magazine was based in New york city in America. The magazine formally was pre-dominatly revolved around certain music genres such as: R&B, Hip hop, Rap etc. The magazine also features actors and the latest gossip of what's happening in the celebrities' lives. Back then, hip hop was always number one on the charts. The magazine mainly was revolved around certain artists such as: Janet Jackson, Tupac, Busta Rhymes and many other artists.
Quincy Jones teamed up with Times Inc and was owned by both of them for only three years until it was sold to Miller publishing and then sold again to the Spin magazine. The spin magazine then successfully owned The vibe for several years. The magazine was said to attract "Ebony or Jet readers". By this term, this meant black people due to generalisation of blacks who enjoy hip hop music.
Later on, The Vibe became a media surrounded thing. The reputation of the magazine lead to whatever status/league the celebrity/artist may have be classified in. For instance, someone like Michael Jackson was really popular and he's presence on the magazine may have gain more publicity for him and the Vibe.
In 2013, The vibe still continues to be a successful magazine, although it was more popular in the early 90's. Their publicty has expanded through media. Usually it only featured people of black race, now it features all types of popular artists, even ones who are not in the R&B/hip hop/rap genre e.g. Kesha, Justin Bieber etc.
Recently, female singer Kesha made history with her appearance on the cover of Vibe. The is the first solo white singer to be featured on Vibe. She proved to millions that her music isn't just "guilty pop". Kesha is striving to become a well-known successful singer. The Vibe is also gaining publicity over the drastic change in comparison to the past last years.
