1. How does the institution (publisher) make money?
Through Advertisement. A variety of agencies pay the publisher to publish their adverts on high rated/popular webistes. For each view they get on the website, they earn some money especially if they're selling things.
2. Who is the audience and what tells you this?
I think the audience is teenagers and up. I assume this because the content is quite graphic and contain foul language thus it's not suitable for children where as teenagers are usually prone to hearing or even using foul language and seeing graphic images on TV. Even the colors used on the website, it's not very colourful or "fun" for kids.
3. How you are intended to ‘use’ or ‘interact with the site?
By reading, watching and hearing things on the website. Also the menu buttons can help navigate to whatever page you want. You can listen to music, watch videos, read the latest gossip, look at adverts and share with your friends.
4. How would you apply audience theories to the site?
The more popular, high rated, more appealing it is then more audience will be there. The graphics, photos, videos, music and gossip attracts more people rather than it being a boring page.
5. Identify the effect of ‘value added content’ (e.g. photos, videos, clips) on the target
audience?
It makes it more appealing, it adds interest to the webiste. Without it, I don't think it will be as popular or as interesting. It will be boring. The target audience (teens +) usually like watching videos or looking at photos, the majority of them don't enjoy reading especially in boring font. So with the nice clolours, photos, videos, music, gossip, adverts and nice graphics will add more effect.
